Our mission

Our mission

To ensure that every child feels safe, accepted, and loved — no exceptions.

How we started:

Sarah Inama, a teacher at Lewis and Clark Middle School in Idaho, was asked by the West Ada School District (WASD) to take down a couple of signs that had been hanging in her classroom for years. One of them reads, “Everyone is welcome here,” above hands of different skin tones. The district argues that it is non-neutral and thus violates district policy about classroom signage. Sarah disagrees, and so do we.

Ms. Inama is facing disciplinary action if she does not remove the “non-neutral” signs by the end of the school-year, and people from all over the world and across the political spectrum are rallying to support her. We established Everyone Is Welcome Here to support this movement.

How you can take action:

Wear the shirt. It started as a simple idea – what if all the students “wore” the posters? WASD can’t do anything about that. We have partnered with a small business to create shirts with a logo similar to one of Ms. Inama’s posters. Click here to order! The company, Brigade Screen Printing, produces the high-quality merchandise at-cost. They do not profit. People from all over the country and even internationally are purchasing the shirt to show their support. Wear yours every Monday and post a picture on social media with these hashtags: #everyoneiswelcomehere #inclusiveidaho #westada. When people ask about your shirt (and they will) let them know where you got it!

Join the Facebook Group. Use this link to stay connected with others supporting the movement. This movement started in Idaho, but we graciously welcome everyone!

Attend the April 6th rally. The following event information is for our local Idahoans. If you live elsewhere or can’t attend, help us by spreading the word and posting a message on our facebook page about a time a teacher made YOU feel welcome! Include the hashtags #everyoneiswelcomehere #inclusiveidaho #westada.
